A number of bird species are found in our area, Mie. Among them, the birds listed below are thought important in our bird fauna. Some of them are listed in the Red Data Book published by our government. The economic development of Japan during 20th century greatly changed natural environment and bird habitat. Some species rapidly decreased in their populations. Decrease of migrants may partly depend on the environmental change outside Japan. The environment of East-Asia is rapidly changing. The home ground of waders, eastern part of arctic Siberia might be received the effect of the grovel warming.
